From my spot on the sofa in my living room I can see straight out to the flatirons. I live on a busy road that suits me perfectly since I’m used to the noise of NYC but might not be for everyone. But I love this view. I can also see my garden jungle from here and the fact that one of the trees is starting to turn yellow.
Yellow. That means FALL is coming. And coming too early from the looks of the rest of the trees that are starting to turn as well. I’m not complaining though, because I love fall. This will be my first fall here with weekends free and I cannot wait to take drives up into the mountains to look at all the beautiful colors. Plus, it’ll be cooler and I’ll get to wear all my cute boots, scarves and fall outfits again! I love fall fashion, I just can’t believe that August is almost over, labor day is just a week away and while I did a ton this summer, I didn’t do all that I wanted to do.
Isn’t that always how it works?
This past weekend was yet another great weekend. Nora was in town on Friday and Saturday, just in time for some USA Pro Cycling to come rolling through town. So basically, Boulder was at it’s finest. Friday night we had amazing macaroni and cheese at Stueben’s in Denver with Liz before even more amazing cocktails at my favorite bar up in Boulder. I had some drink that the bartender called a garden in my mouth and it was the best.drink.ever. It had cucumber and basil and ginger and omg amazing.
Saturday we were up bright and early for a hike on my favorite trail before heading to Brasserie Ten Ten for brunch on their patio in the sun. It was the quintessential Boulder morning and we even wore our hiking outfits to brunch. I continued wearing mine all day and felt very Colorado. It only took me two and a half years to spend an entire day in a workout outfit and actually go out in public. Multiple times. Maybe next time the USA Pro Cycling challenge comes through Boulder I’ll actually go watch it.
Sunday was wide open until I got a call from my friend Morgan (suffering from a post-travel hangover) who was pretty intent on spending her entire weekend in bed. So I got out of my pajamas, kidnapped Morgan from her moping promising her adventure and grabbed breakfast at Walnut Cafe where we life planned on napkins. The adventuring kinda fizzled out after that and we would up lying around her pool, eating push pops and drinking margaritas in between watching a lot of episodes of Say Yes to the Dress. Yes, I said push pops. Who doesn’t want to relive their childhood while imbibing in adult beverages? (But seriously, the Spongebob Squarepants push pops were not the same as the ones from my childhood. It was kind of sad. But still delicious.)
My weekend plans were not what I expected but sometimes you need those random weekends. It was completely wonderful. I still haven’t figured out how to make weekends go slower but I’m working on it. I will share my secrets when I discover them.
