There’s a lot of new things going on over here in the life of Ashalah. New, exciting things. Things that were desperately prayed for, things that took me completely by surprise.
First, I got a job. It’s not THE job, I am still waiting to hear back from that one but after eleven months of my leisurely lifestyle, I have been hired to work in a retail home furnishings store here in Boulder. Which means, I can stay in Boulder!!!! I’m nervous, excited…you name it, I am experiencing it. I haven’t worked in eleven months–ELEVEN! That’s almost an entire year! It’s been a wild, wild year full of travel, adventure, leisurely pursuits of becoming the laziest person alive, and discovering myself. It’s also been a stressful year, a year of adjusting to traveling solo, to living with my parents, to living in a new city with all new people. It’s been nothing short of amazing.
Second, someone came back into my life that I wasn’t expecting at all, at least not the way it’s been manifesting itself. Someone I’ve known since I was eight years old, whom I haven’t seen since we were eighteen. We weren’t friends growing up, but always knew of the other and I’m sure we talked, albeit probably very briefly. But what started as just him coming to my party to hang out has escalated into him taking me to a Red Sox game (which was AWESOME by the way. Best game I’ve been to in a while, despite the Sox stressing me out by keeping it a high scoring game–on both sides–up until the tenth inning. The Sox won and I left a happy little BoSox fan), then dinner plans and making out on my couch. I have no idea where this is going, or what will happen, and it scares me a little bit. This is someone who comes from the closest thing to where I can call home. This is someone who’s known me in every single awkward phase of my life. Who’s known me in the part of my life that I’d very much like to forget. One day at a time though, right?
Third, I’ve completely redesigned my blog, new theme and all and if you click through your readers, you can see the loveliness that is my new blog. Psst you can totally flip through the pictures to the right of the header
Fou…ok this is getting old. Anyway. I’m going up to Wyoming at the end of this week (ok in like TWO DAYS) for the Fourth of July festivities to visit Kira and her family. I’m so excited to see them again, a little hesitant about the fact that my credit card bill is scary as fuck and I keep adding onto it without being able to pay it off yet, but looking forward to a weekend away. It’ll be my last in a while, seeing that I probably won’t have a day off anytime soon once my job starts. Expect tweeting while driving and a ton of pictures once I get back!
I’m going to raise up my little ice cream sandwich and cheers to new beginnings and even more adventures to come in the next year! Nom nom nom…

LOVE LOVE LOVE the new layout. Fits you well. And congrats on the job!
I’ve been lurking a lot since you introduced the new site — which isn’t even so new anymore — so I’m sorry for that!
The new layout looks fantastic!
Congratulations on the job and on all the other possibilities. I love that I’m the first one who picked up on your little hint in that last post!
Lookin’ good! Looking for a new theme is exhausting isn’t it? But so worth it in the end. BTW… is the click through picture thing a plugin? I am totally in love with that.
